The pumping station on the operator’s screen
At the Dubna APTS workstation the operator could see pump and valve states, pipe pressure and reservoir levels. The same workstation allowed the operator to select a control mode, issue a command and check the state reported by the equipment.

01
Challenge
Monitoring the station required a view of both the pipework and the individual devices. A start command, motor current and pump pressure each tell the operator something different. The display needed to bring them together and indicate when data from a device had stopped arriving.
02
Solution
The supervisory software ran in the TRACE MODE runtime on Windows 7. Each branch of the process display placed pump and valve controls beside their indicators. Manual mode allowed individual device control. Pumps and valves could also be controlled as pairs. A separate display showed reservoir levels and filter states.
03
Outcome
I.V.A. was the contractor for the Dubna APTS supervisory software for the Tenzor instrument plant. The operating documentation for version 1.0 included an application description and an operator manual. The program logged commands and changes of state with their time and device, allowing the operator to reconstruct a sequence after the live display had changed.
